MudBook ("we", "our", or "us") is operated by Taylin Digital. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your personal data when you use the MudBook iOS application and any associated services.
By using MudBook, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
1. Information We Collect
We collect the following types of information:
- Account information: Your name and email address, provided when you sign in via Microsoft Entra (CIAM). You may also sign in using Apple or Google, in which case we receive only the information those providers share with us.
- App content: Projects, glaze recipes, firing logs, inventory records, and ideas you create within the app.
- Photos: Images you attach to projects, test tiles, and ideas. Photos are compressed and stored securely in Azure Blob Storage.
- Usage data: Anonymised crash reports and performance diagnostics via Azure Application Insights.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use your data solely to provide and improve the MudBook service:
- To authenticate you and secure your account
- To sync your studio data across your devices
- To store and retrieve your projects, glazes, and photos
- To diagnose crashes and improve app performance
- To manage your subscription via the Apple App Store
We do not sell your data. We do not use your data for advertising.
3. Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored on Microsoft Azure infrastructure located in the United Kingdom (UK West region). We use the following Azure services:
- Azure Cosmos DB — project, glaze, and studio data
- Azure Blob Storage (Cool tier) — photo storage, served via Azure Front Door CDN
- Azure Application Insights — anonymised diagnostics
- Microsoft Entra External ID — identity and authentication
All data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest. Access is controlled via bearer token authentication.
4. Data Retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your data will be permanently deleted within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal or financial compliance purposes.
5. Your Rights
Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your account and data
- Object to or restrict processing of your data
- Data portability (export your data in JSON format via the app)

6. Third-Party Services
MudBook integrates with the following third-party services:
- Apple App Store — subscription billing and TestFlight distribution
- Microsoft Azure — cloud infrastructure and authentication
- Google / Apple sign-in — optional social authentication (no additional data is shared beyond your name and email)
7. Children's Privacy
MudBook is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via the app or by email. The "last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
